DISCOvER
I have a theory, that as humans our job is to go out into the world and live our lives fully - then come back and share the stories with those around us. There’s power in our stories, for ourselves and for others.
Here are some of mine…
What are your tolerations costing you?
Toleration
1. The act of tolerating; the allowance of that which is not wholly approved.
There’s two layers here, one is clearing a list of things you’ve been meaning to do and they still take up space in your head… and there’s also the layer of things that are not ‘wholly approved’.
On money
Many of us didn’t get solid practical, relevant-to-us financial teaching from our parents or schooling, but often we believe we should just know how to do money. We also likely didn’t learn that there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to earning, saving, spending, and investing… once you allow for gender, conditioning, personality, neurodivergence, and other factors there are many ways to adapt the doing of money to suit individuals.
Fear of death
In ancient times when we lived in tribes and villages, we depended on the tribe for food, warmth, protection and procreation. If we did something that caused us to be removed from the tribe if we no longer had the protection of the ring of tents around the fire we were vulnerable to attack, being fed on by wild animals or caught by other tribes.
While we no longer live in tribes and need literal protection from wild animals, there’s a part of our brain that operates as if we do. It’s called the amygdala or the primal brain.
who told you who you could be?
I started wondering if people could pinpoint the moment or the series of moments that shaped their concept of who they are to the world.
